The Delegation from Weifang Institute of Technology Visited Our College

On March 29th, Dr. Abed Gera, the former director of Israeli National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the director of the Institute of Scientific Research of Weifang Institute of Technology, along with Professor Xu Yanping, the Dean of the College of Agriculture Resources and Environment of Weifang Institute of Technology, visited our college. The meeting was presided over by Vice Dean, Jing Xiangfeng, from our college. Dean of our college, Hu Xiaoping, and relevant faculties attended.

Hu Xiaoping extended a warm welcome to Prof. Abed Gera and the delegation, introducing the history and current situation of the College of Plant Protection of NWAFU. He highlighted the achievements made by our college in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services, and expressed the hope that both parties could strengthen communication and cooperation in multiple fields in the future. Prof. Abed Gera introduced his vision for promoting China-Israel cooperation, and both sides focused on the construction of Plant Protection majors, joint application for international cooperation projects, talent cultivation and delivery, among other issues. Both sides reached a consensus on jointly promoting the construction of Plant Protection disciplines.

In the afternoon, Prof. Abed Gera delivered an academic report titled "Israeli Agricultural Research and Development and China-Israel Institutional Cooperation: Challenges and Opportunities". He analyzed the main factors restricting national agricultural development and the innovative technologies adopted, combining the overview of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research Organization in Israeli. He focused on introducing the research progress made by his team in the prevention and control of plant viral diseases.

In the evening, Prof. Abed Gera visited the student community, talked with students who majoring in Plant Protection about professional knowledge, shared his insights on learning and scientific research, and discussed the issue of disease prevention and control in tobacco leaves. He also exchanged ideas with students about life and study in Israel, interpreted Israeli study abroad policies based on his own experience, and encouraged students to cultivate an international perspective and strengthen international exchange and cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the university's public platforms, the insect museum, and other facilities.
