Recently, Prof. Ally Harari, an entomologist from the Israeli Agricultural Research Organization, and Dr. Rakefet Sharon, a researcher at the Rakefet Sharon Institute in the Galilee, Israel, were invited to visit our university.
Drs. Ally Harari and Rakefet Sharon delivered academic presentations entitled "Sexual selection in theory and practice" and "Insect-plant interaction and communication in pest control tactics" respectively. The two experts introduced their research progress in Chemical Ecology, Biological Control, and Ecological Regulation of pests. They also discussed the basic situation of pest control in Israeli fruit trees. The atmosphere during the presentations was lively, and both experts provided detailed answers to questions raised by the faculty and students.
During their visit, Drs. Ally Harari and Rakefet Sharon taught a course on "Integrated Pest Management of Advanced Pests" for our doctoral students, visited the laboratories, conducted field inspections of fruit tree pest occurrence and control in the Guanzhong region, and engaged in in-depth discussions with Prof. Chen Maohua's research group on issues related to pest control. Both parties expressed the hope to further collaborate on research related to fruit tree pest control.
