Bioinformatics servers are core devices that leverage computer tools to address various computational challenges in contemporary biological development. They serve as primary platforms for scientific computations such as mining biological omics data, analyzing system evolution patterns, and screening for highly effective bioactive compounds. To further enhance the understanding and application proficiency of bioinformatics servers among faculty and students, the Plant Protection Science & Technology Innovation and Talent Cultivation Platform, in collaboration with the server manufacturer, recently organized a technical training and experience-sharing event on "Bioinformatics Server Applications." This event was conducted simultaneously online and onsite, attracting over 30 faculty members and students from the university. During the training session, server application engineers systematically introduced server cluster resources and topology, user registration and login methods, task submission and management, reservation procedures, and usage precautions. Hands-on demonstrations and practical operations were conducted at the event venue, and the engineers addressed and discussed any issues encountered by faculty and students during their usage.

The bioinformatics server is an essential functional component of the Plant Protection Science & Technology Innovation and Talent Cultivation Platform. Since its deployment at the end of June 2023, the server has provided data analysis services to over 50 faculty members and students from more than 10 research teams within our college, accepting over 5,500 computational tasks. The college’s public platform bioinformatics server includes one management login node, one test node, ten CPU computing nodes, one fat node (large memory node), one GPU node, one distributed data storage system, and related ancillary facilities, totaling 832 cores and 320TB of effective storage space, with a total computing power of 95.03 TFLOPS. The deployment of the bioinformatics server aims to provide basic computing support for the relevant research work of our college’s scientific and educational personnel, further enhancing the research support level of the college's public platform. Currently, this equipment has been added to our university’s large-scale instrument sharing platform, and faculty and students are welcome to consult, make reservations, and use it.
