Recently, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (UK), Director of the Dongmaolin Institute, Honorary Professor of Kent University, and Guest Professor of NWAFU, Professor Xu Xiangming, visited the College of Plant Protection, NWAFU, upon invitation.

Professor Xu delivered an academic report titled "Rice Responses to the Use of Trichoderma" to our faculty and students. Taking the biological control of rice blast disease in Africa by Trichoderma as a starting point, he introduced in detail how, during the research process, it was found that the biological control agent had a minor impact on rice blast but had a significant effect on increasing rice yields in Africa. He further explored and analyzed the reasons why rice responds to the infection of biological control agents by increasing its yield. During the Q&A session, faculty, students, and Professor Xu engaged in in-depth discussions.

During his visit, Professor Xu taught a course on the latest advancements in plant protection research with the theme of "Crop Protection" for graduate students of our college. He also conducted a joint inspection and survey of various diseases affecting apple trees in both old and new orchards in Weinan city, Shaanxi Province.
