From December 7th to 8th, 2024, The 4st National Plant Protection Competition for College Students was held at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU). The contests were jointly hosted by the Teaching Innovation Alliance of Plant Protection, Chinese Society of Plant Pathology, Beijing Entomological Society, Fujian Entomological Society, and Fujian Society of Plant Pathology, and was organized by the College of Plant Protection, FAFU. Faculty and students from our university competed with over a thousand plant protection faculty and students over the nation. In the end, team of our university won the Group Special Award, along with 3 individual Special Awards, 3 First Prizes, and 3 Second Prizes.Our college attached great importance to this contest, preparing for the preliminary university-level competition half a year in advance and conducting extensive mobilization among students across the whole university. It attracted the active participation of numerous students with solid theoretical foundations, good innovative thinking, and excellent expressive abilities. Ultimately, 16 students were selected from over 50 teams in the preliminary competition to participate in the final preparation stage.During the final preparation period, our college actively coordinated various preparation resources and arranged 9 professional instructors to communicate with students on a one-on-one basis. Students preparing for the professional skills competition modules focused their over-classes time on studying and discussing in Lab 917 of the College of Plant Protection building. Regular group reports were organized for insect micro-landscape displays, innovative entrepreneurship excellent project displays, undergraduate academic exchange reports, and video animation production and display modules for plant protection professional knowledge. Cui Zhisen, the leader of the innovative entrepreneurship excellent project display team, said, "I am honored to participate in the sharing of innovative entrepreneurship projects as the team leader in this contest. During the preparation period, the team held multiple group meetings to repeatedly refine the project content. In the competition, facing fierce competition and challenges, we encouraged each other and overcame difficulties together. This honor belongs to the entire team and is the best recognition of our efforts."Taking this event as an opportunity, our college furtherly strengthen discipline teaching and scientific research, promote discipline development and innovation, continuously enhance discipline influence and competitiveness, and cultivate more outstanding talents for plant protection field of China.
