Opening Ceremony was Held for the First session of Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program in Plant Protection Between NWAFU & UNL

On September 20th 2023, an opening ceremony was held for the first session of Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program in Plant Protection Between Northwest A&F University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln on north campus of NWAFU. Prof. Luo Jun, vice President, representatives from the Academic Affairs Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Student Affairs Office, Student Union, and the College of Plant Protection, as well as faculty representatives and 53 new students in this program, attended the ceremony.





Prof. Luo Jun extended his warmest congratulations on the opening of this program. He encouraged the students to strengthen their professional studies, take advantage of the extraordinary quality education resources, and contribute to the great rejuvenation of our country.

Prof. David Holding, Associate Head of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), expressed his pleasure at the 53 new students who have joined the first session of this program. He attributed this success to the full support of Northwest A&F University. He also encouraged the students to take advantage of the high-quality education resources available, set clear goals, focus on their studies, improve their English proficiency, enhance their professional skills, and become a well-rounded international talent that meets the needs of social development.

Prof. Hu Xiaoping, Dean of the College of Plant Protection, NWAFU, introduced the history of the college, its academic disciplines, teaching staff, research outcomes, and excellence talent training system. He thanked both the Chinese and foreign faculties who helped to establish and promote the program and hoped that both universities can establish a deeper and broader partnership for green production of crops.

Young faculty representative, Prof. Wang Ning extended her congratulations to the new students and gave four suggestions for their future studies: to maintain curiosity, cherish youth, face challenges head-on, and stay true to oneself. Student representative Cao Yuxuan shared her reasons for choosing this major and her expectations for college life. She hopes to practice the school motto of "Honesty, Bravery, and Perseverance", aim high, work hard, and demonstrate the style of Northwest A&F University in a broader world.
