Yang Jiarong

  Mr. Yang Jiarongwho was born in 27 December 1957 in Sichuan, China is the professor, PhD student supervisor and the Vice Dean of Graduate School of Northwest A&F University, which has been identified as one of two“985” key national universities in agriculture and forestry in China. He obtained his PhD in Department of Plant Pathology, Northwest Agriculture University in July 1996 and used to work in Horticulture Research International (HRI), East Malling, Kent, U.K for two and half years. Later on, he has paid more than ten academic visits to USA, U.K, Germany, Hungary, Australia etc. He was first selected to be one of Shaanxi Provincial "3.5" talent persons in 1997 and conferred as an excellent returned person who studied abroad by Shaanxi Government in 1998. At present, he acts as the committee member of China Plant Protection Association and general secretary of Shaanxi Plant Protection Association.

  Prof Yang has vast amount of experience in research on fungal diseases initially in Verticillium dahliae (cotton wilt) and recently on apple and pear scab (Venturia inaequalis, Venturia nashicola), particularly on its aetiology , ecology, epidemiology, population genetics and integrated control techniques. He has held more than 10 items of national, provincial and EU international scientific and technological cooperative research projects and obtained 5 items of Shaanxi Science and Technology Improvement Prizes, amongst them, 2 for fist rank prize, 3 for second rank prize, 1 for third second rank prize. He has published more than 100 academic papers in national and international journals, including 15 SCI papers.
